Coolbet reviews: what the critics found, and our Ontario verdict

Most Coolbet reviews online describe a sportsbook for other provinces or other countries. We read the main ones, set them side by side, checked their claims against the regulators' own records, then wrote our own verdict for someone betting in Ontario.

The short version for Ontario bettors

If you're looking for a Coolbet Ontario review, start here: Coolbet isn't an option in Ontario. It joined the regulated market in the first wave in April 2022 and closed its Ontario site on 3 April 2023. When we checked iGaming Ontario's operator directory on 4 November 2026, neither Coolbet nor its licence holder, Polar Limited, was among the 49 operators and 84 sites listed.

That changes how you should read every review below. RG.org tested Coolbet's site for the rest of Canada, which Ontario residents can't join. Strafe reviewed the Ontario site while it was still open. gambling.com reviewed Coolbet in Sweden, and Covers reported on how Coolbet left. Each is useful, but none describes something you can join from Ontario today. The full story is on our Coolbet Ontario guide.

RG.org: sharp prices, average range, rough edges

RG.org's review is the most detailed recent look at Coolbet's sportsbook. Everything in it describes the site for the rest of Canada, not Ontario.

Odds and range. RG.org measured an average margin of 3.79% on major leagues. It counted 240 leagues across 33 sports, led by soccer (130 leagues) and hockey (21), with 1,321 pre-match events and an average of 1,486 markets per event.

Features. Early payout lets you sell all or part of a slip back, there's a Bet Builder on some events, and HD streaming opens up once you've deposited. Coolbet also shows the total amount wagered on individual events. What's missing is conditional auto cash-out.

A man in glasses reading a printed document at his desk

Payments. RG.org lists Interac, Visa, Mastercard, MuchBetter, Apple Pay, bank transfer, Bitcoin and Neosurf, with CAD accounts, a $10 minimum deposit and an ID check before withdrawals. Withdrawals are quoted at up to 72 hours (3 banking days).

Support and usability. RG.org reports 24/7 live chat but found agents often sent basic questions to email. It found desktop pages hard to read, with small fonts and a dense layout, and the withdrawal button hard to find from the main lobby. There's no dedicated iOS or Android app in Canada, only the mobile browser site; our Coolbet app page explains why.

Safer-gambling tools. Deposit, loss and time limits, a cool-off, self-exclusion for six months or more, reality checks and profit/loss statements.

RG.org's pros, quoted

  • "RG limits can be set by players"
  • "6x rollover on welcome bonus is manageable"
  • "Excellent odds and solid bonus promotions"

RG.org's cons, quoted

  • "Fewer sports/leagues than competitors"
  • "No conditional early cash out"
  • "Not available in Ontario or Alberta"

The welcome bonus and promotions RG.org rates are for other provinces and are not available in Ontario; we report them as information on our bonus code and free bet pages. RG.org also reports a Trustpilot score of 3.2 from 256 reviews, which we haven't checked on Trustpilot ourselves. And its reliability notes tell bettors to check futures-settlement terms "given Coolbet's history of voiding outstanding futures when it exited Ontario".

Strafe: the Ontario-era review

Strafe reviewed Coolbet Ontario in 2022, while the site was registered with the AGCO and taking Ontario bets. It's the closest thing to a first-hand Ontario review, and it's now a historical document: the page says "Coolbet is no longer recommended".

Strafe noted how open the casino lobby was. Each slot showed its payout percentage (RTP) right on the thumbnail, with New Games and Hot Games categories and a way to browse by provider. Deposits were by Interac, MuchBetter and credit or debit card. There was no Ontario app, only the mobile site.

One detail doesn't line up. Covers' report on the exit says Coolbet closed its Ontario "site and mobile app" in April 2023, while Strafe's review says there was no Ontario app. We couldn't settle which is right, so we don't claim either way.

The casino in Sweden, and the exits in Canada

Two sources that fill in what the sportsbook reviews leave out.

gambling.com: the casino in Sweden

gambling.com's Swedish review says Coolbet in Sweden is run by Polar Limited under Spelinspektionen licence 23Si2180, valid from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2028. It counts more than 3,000 casino games with RTP shown on many tiles, Coolbet's own progressive Coolbet Jackpot, crash games, video poker, and blackjack and roulette including first-person versions. Live tables come from Evolution, Pragmatic Play Live, Stakelogic Live and OnAir Entertainment. More on our Coolbet Casino page.

Covers: how Coolbet leaves a province

In March 2023 Covers reported that Coolbet turned off deposits on 21 March, closed gaming on 22 March and shut its Ontario site on 3 April. Bets that couldn't be settled, futures included, were voided and refunded. Its owner GAN told Covers it "didn't see a near-term path to profitability". In July 2026 Covers, RG.org and Casinos.com reported the same pattern in Alberta: betting ended on 12 July, unsettled bets were voided except World Cup bets, and withdrawals stayed open until 31 August 2026.

Where reviewers agree, and where they don't

Where sources clash, we go with the primary record: the regulator's register, iGaming Ontario's directory or the App Store itself.

For an Ontario bettor, one line on that scorecard outweighs the rest: Coolbet isn't available here. Sharp odds don't help if you can't open an account, and getting around the block with a VPN or a fake location breaks Coolbet's terms, can leave a balance frozen, and leaves you with no Ontario regulator to call.

For the brand overall, the reviews paint a consistent picture: a sharp-odds, sportsbook-first operator with real tools for bettors who care about price, a casino that runs to more than 3,000 games in Sweden, and an interface critics find dense in places. The part most reviews skip is the exit pattern. Coolbet has left two Canadian provinces, Ontario in 2023 and Alberta in 2026, and both times unsettled bets were voided and players were given a window to withdraw. If you bet futures or keep a balance, that's not a footnote. Had a Coolbet Ontario account? Our login page covers old accounts.

What we'd do in Ontario: pick a sportsbook from iGaming Ontario's directory and compare its prices on the games you actually bet.

How to read any Coolbet review in 2026

Three quick checks before you trust what you read.

A flip clock against a plain wall

1

Check the market

RG.org's Coolbet is the site for other provinces; gambling.com's is the Swedish one. Bonuses and payment methods differ by market, and none of the out-of-province offers are available in Ontario.

2

Check the date

Strafe's review was written while Coolbet Ontario was open. Anything from before April 2023 describes an Ontario site that no longer exists.

3

Check the licence claim yourself

Some "Coolbet Ontario" pages in search results are machine-written and claim Coolbet holds an iGO licence today. It doesn't. Look the brand up in iGaming Ontario's directory before you believe any review.

Coolbet reviews FAQ

Is there a Coolbet Ontario review I can rely on?

Strafe reviewed Coolbet Ontario in 2022, while it was registered, but the Ontario site closed on 3 April 2023 and Strafe now says Coolbet is no longer recommended. Recent reviews such as RG.org's describe Coolbet's site for other provinces, which Ontario residents can't join.

What does RG.org say about Coolbet?

RG.org praises Coolbet's odds, measuring an average margin of 3.79% on major leagues, and counts 240 leagues across 33 sports. Its cons are fewer sports and leagues than competitors, no conditional early cash-out, and no availability in Ontario or Alberta.

What is Coolbet's Trustpilot rating?

RG.org reports a Trustpilot score of 3.2 from 256 reviews. We haven't checked that figure on Trustpilot ourselves, and it reflects Coolbet customers outside Ontario.

Who holds Coolbet's licence?

The Malta Gaming Authority's register lists Polar Limited, authorisation MGA/CRP/681/2019, as licensed. RG.org names "Coolbet OÜ" in Tallinn instead; we go with the register. A Malta licence does not cover Ontario.

Is Coolbet's customer support available 24/7?

RG.org reports 24/7 live chat on Coolbet's site for the rest of Canada. Strafe's 2022 review of the Ontario site listed set hours instead: chat and email from 2 am to 7 pm, phone from 2 am to 5 pm. We couldn't verify today's hours.

Does Coolbet void bets when it leaves a province?

It has both times. In Ontario in 2023, bets that couldn't be settled, futures included, were voided and refunded. In Alberta in 2026, unsettled bets were voided except World Cup bets, and players had until 31 August 2026 to withdraw.

Where can I bet in Ontario instead?

Choose a site from iGaming Ontario's operator directory, which listed 49 operators and 84 sites on 4 November 2026, and look for the iGO logo. Registered operators are overseen by the AGCO, which gives you a complaints route. You must be 19 or older.
