Coolbet free bet in Ontario: not on offer, and here's why
Coolbet doesn't accept Ontario players, so there's no Coolbet free bet to claim here. Below: the free bets and boosts reported for its Canadian site in other provinces, how promotions like these work, and what an Ontario bettor can do instead.
Can you get a Coolbet free bet in Ontario?
No. Coolbet doesn't take Ontario players, so none of its free bets, insurances or boosts can be claimed here. It was one of the first private operators in Ontario's regulated market when it opened on 4 April 2022, then closed its Ontario site on 3 April 2023. When we checked iGaming Ontario's operator directory on 4 November 2026, neither Coolbet nor Polar Limited, the company that holds its Malta licence, was among the 49 operators listed.
Coolbet still runs a Canadian site in other provinces under that Malta licence, and it promotes free bets and boosts there. But its Canadian bonus terms, as RG.org reports them, are for residents of Canada "excluding Ontario", and RG.org lists the site as unavailable in Ontario and Alberta.
So everything below describes another market. Read it as background, and as a guide to weighing offers from sportsbooks that are allowed to take your bet here.

Coolbet's free bets and boosts outside Ontario
RG.org, an affiliate review site, lists these ongoing promotions on Coolbet's Canadian site. The amounts are RG.org's; where it gives no figure, neither do we.

|---|---|---|
| UFC free bet | A $25 free bet for betting on a UFC fight | Not available in Ontario |
| Combo insurance | A weekly $15 free bet as insurance on combo (parlay) bets | Not available in Ontario |
| Football and NHL BetBuilder offers | Weekly BetBuilder insurance, profit boost or free bet on NFL and NCAA football and on NHL games (no amount listed) | Not available in Ontario |
| Basketball, golf and CFL boosts | A weekly 30% profit boost on NBA and NCAA basketball, golf weeks and the CFL | Not available in Ontario |
| Esports win boost | A 20% win boost, up to $75 | Not available in Ontario |
| Odds boosts | Boosted odds, daily | Not available in Ontario |
| VIP Club | Invitation only | Not available in Ontario |
RG.org's list doesn't give the small print for each offer (minimum odds, qualifying stakes, expiry, or whether a free bet's stake comes back), and we couldn't verify it. Its list of pros does include "Excellent odds and solid bonus promotions", which changes nothing for Ontario.
Coolbet's sports welcome offer outside Ontario, a deposit match with a code, isn't a free bet: see our Coolbet bonus code page.
How free bets, insurance and boosts work
The general mechanics, so you can judge any offer. Terms vary by sportsbook, and we couldn't verify Coolbet's exact token terms.
Free bets
A free bet is a token you can stake without risking your own money. With most free-bet tokens, the stake isn't returned with the winnings: you keep the profit only. Tokens usually expire, and many carry minimum odds or a list of eligible markets.
Bet insurance
Insurance gives you something back when a bet loses, often only in a set way, such as a parlay that misses by one leg. The refund is typically paid as a free bet rather than cash, so it comes with the same stake-not-returned rule.
Profit, win and odds boosts
A profit or win boost adds a percentage to the profit on a winning bet; an odds boost raises the price before you bet. Either is worth nothing if the bet loses, and many are capped: check whether the cap limits your stake or your extra winnings.
Hypothetical examples · not Coolbet's terms
Free bet. A hypothetical $20 free bet at decimal odds 3.00 (+200) would usually return $40, not the $60 a $20 cash bet would: you get the profit, but the token isn't paid back.
Insurance refund. Say a hypothetical $10 parlay is insured and loses, and the refund is a $10 free bet. That isn't the same as getting $10 back: staked at 2.00 (+100), the token pays $10 if it wins and nothing if it loses.
Profit boost. A hypothetical 25% profit boost on a $10 cash bet at 3.00 lifts the profit from $20 to $25, so the bet returns $35 instead of $30. If it loses, the boost is worth nothing.
What the 2023 exit did to open bets and bonuses
Covers reported that Coolbet switched off all deposits on 21 March 2023, closed gaming the next day, and shut its Ontario site on 3 April 2023, the date its iGaming registration was due to expire. Its message to customers: "We strongly encourage you to withdraw your funds as soon as possible."
Bets that couldn't be settled by the end of 22 March were voided and refunded, futures included. Undecided parlay legs were voided and set to odds 1.00, which in practice means the parlay was settled on its other legs. The logic is simple: a sportsbook leaving a market can't keep bets open on games it won't be around to settle.
What about unused free bets or bonus money? The reports we rely on don't say what happened to them in Ontario, so we can't tell you. As a rule, a free-bet token isn't cash: it usually can't be withdrawn, and once a sportsbook stops taking bets, there's nothing left to stake it on.
Coolbet's Alberta exit shows how it handled bonuses the second time. Covers, RG.org and Casinos.com reported that it stopped promotions there and released bonus funds from their wagering requirements on 6 July 2026, voided unsettled bets except World Cup bets, and let Albertans withdraw until 31 August 2026. RG.org now tells bettors to check futures-settlement terms "given Coolbet's history of voiding outstanding futures when it exited Ontario".
Why Ontario sportsbooks don't advertise free bets
Ontario's rules are the other half of the answer. Under the AGCO's rules for internet gaming, registered operators may not publicly advertise bonuses or other inducements to Ontarians. They can show offers on their own sites to people who've signed up or agreed to receive them. So a free-bet offer pushed at Ontarians in a public ad deserves suspicion.
That's why this page reports Coolbet's out-of-province promotions as information only, with no claim buttons. Some machine-written pages even claim Coolbet holds an iGO licence today. It doesn't.
There's an irony, too. When Coolbet left, GAN's chief executive Dermot Smurfit blamed a "competitive, promotional-orientated mania" in Ontario, and GAN told Covers the "heightened promotional environment" left it no near-term path to profitability. The promotions race was part of why Coolbet walked away.

Don't try to claim it
Using a VPN or a fake location to sign up breaks an operator's terms. Accounts caught doing it can be frozen with the balance, free bets included, and no Ontario regulator can help you get the money back.
Because Coolbet isn't registered in Ontario, the AGCO can't step in if something goes wrong. A promotion is never worth giving up that protection.
Using free bets and boosts sensibly in Ontario
Registered Ontario sportsbooks can still offer boosts and free bets to their own customers. Four habits help you get real value from them.
1
Check the site first
Look the brand up in iGaming Ontario's directory and check for the iGO logo on the site. An offer from a site that isn't listed comes with no AGCO protection.
2
Read the token terms
Before you place a free bet, find four things: whether the stake is returned, the minimum odds, the expiry date and any cap.
3
Compare the boosted price
A boost only helps if the boosted odds beat the best normal price on the same market elsewhere.
4
Never bet to unlock a promo
If an offer needs you to bet more, or on markets you'd normally skip, let it go. Set a deposit limit before you start.
Free bets are still bets
Promotions are designed to keep you betting. You must be 19 or older to bet online in Ontario, and regulated sites have to offer tools such as deposit limits and self-exclusion. Since May 2026 Ontario has also had BetGuard, a single self-exclusion service for the regulated market.
Set a budget before you start, don't chase losses with a free bet, and stop when it isn't fun any more.

Coolbet free bet FAQ
Can I get a Coolbet free bet in Ontario?
No. Coolbet closed its Ontario site on 3 April 2023, isn't in iGaming Ontario's directory and, according to RG.org, its Canadian bonus terms exclude Ontario.
What free bets does Coolbet offer elsewhere in Canada?
RG.org lists, among others, a $25 UFC free bet, a weekly $15 combo-insurance free bet and a 20% esports win boost up to $75. None is offered in Ontario.
Is there a Coolbet free bet code?
We couldn't verify any free-bet code. The code RG.org reports for Coolbet in Canada, CAD200, is for the sports welcome deposit bonus outside Ontario, not a free bet.
Do you get your stake back on a free bet?
Usually not: you keep only the profit, so a free bet is worth less than the same amount in cash. We couldn't verify Coolbet's own token terms.
What happened to open bets when Coolbet left Ontario?
According to Covers, bets not settled by the end of 22 March 2023 were voided and refunded, futures included. The reports don't say what happened to unused free bets.
Can I use a VPN to claim Coolbet's free bet from Ontario?
No. It breaks the operator's terms: the account can be frozen with its balance and free bets, and no Ontario regulator can help.
